Still, to my credit, I did! :-)
Started with a krithi in praise of Lord Ganesha, of course!
'Gananayakam' in Rudrapriya, composition of Muthuswamy Diskhitar.

Listened to my guru sing this song. Ah! How beautifully he sings! The voice, the crisp inunciation, the bhaavam.......incredible! Sang the song with a few rounds of swaram at the pallavi. Not too bad! Could always be a million times better.
Next, to derive the blessings of Goddess Saraswathi (maybe there is a shortcut without practising ;-) ) A must have.......:-)
'Saraseeruhaasanapriye' in Naatai, composition of Pulliyur Doraiswamy Iyer

Extremely beautiful composition! I have heard Bombay Jayshree sing it beautifully! Sang the song about 10 times to get it just right as I have just learnt the song. My guruji believes that you have to sing it only a 100 times to get it right! :-) Hmmm.....maybe tomorrow! A few rounds of swaram at the usual place...."Saraswathi" in the Charanam. Decent!
Next, a new song....
'Mahaganapathe' in Natanarayani, composition of Muthuswamy Dikshitar.

Janya of 28th Mela Harikambodhi
A short, totally simple and sweet krithi. A Samashti Charanam with Chittaswaram. Have heard renditions by R.K.Srikantan and Kazhugumalai Kandaswamy. But none to beat that of my guruji! Ah! If I can get every curve and nuance that he manages to produce, I will be eternally grateful! :-) Have learnt the krithi. Practice x no. of times is left for tomorrow. :-) Thats it for now, I guess!
